How the Staffing Calculation Works
The tool first converts call demand into traffic intensity. One Erlang represents one agent continuously occupied for the complete interval.
It then searches for the smallest whole number of active agents that meets both your service-level target and occupancy ceiling. Finally, shrinkage converts the active requirement into scheduled headcount.

Erlang C Assumptions and Limitations
Erlang C assumes random call arrivals, steady conditions during the interval, one interchangeable agent group, unlimited queue space, and no caller abandonment. Real call centers can differ from these assumptions.
Use the result as a transparent planning baseline. Validate it against abandonment, arrival patterns, schedule adherence, skill routing, and historical service performance before finalizing a roster.
